The idea of restarting a Scout Group in Arborfield, based at The Coombes Primary School, began back in 2009 and with the support of the County Development Officer and the Wokingham District Commissioners, we were able to offer Beaver taster sessions in February 2010. Due to the fantastic response to these sessions, we were able to get the Beaver Colony up and running by April of that same year, with a full Group Executive Committee to support it. This was closely followed by our Cub Pack which began in June. By February 2011, just a year after our initial Beaver taster sessions, we were able to set up our Scout Troop.
Our Group Executive Committee also continues to grow, with more volunteers offering their time to help keep 1st Arborfield running smoothly. None of this would have been possible without the willingness of parents to take on a wide variety of voluntary roles, or the incredible support that we receive from The Coombes Primary School.
